5 million :O
5 million :O
Almost didn't notice it, it crept up while I've been too busy playing WoW to watch my census figures much but the 5 million updates mark seems to have been reached in the last day or so
Wow! One big WTG for you!
Imagine a beowulf cluster of Balgairs!
(apologies to those of you who haven't read slashdot)

Gratz,
I am amazed though when I decided to check out some servers stats, and there are still tons with basically no submissions in the last 30 days. When I submitted for WoW it seemed like I was always competing with other submitters for getting my upload in before theirs, now Dragonmaw has 0 submissions on both factions.
Unfortunately I don't get any credit for my WAR submissions, but it prolly wouldnt amount to much since the populations on the servers are way smaller than WoW.

Yeah, usage of Census isn't improving any, think the only reason the EU servers are no longer a big mass of zeroes is that 1974ER is censusing tons - I pick them up a bit but also try to keep characters on any with low (<40) submissions and none of my servers tend to get out of that range so I just ran out of character slots...
Can tell from my server's stats that I'm now the only person there running C+ - used to be there was more submissions than I could be responsible for, usually including plenty on whichever side I wasn't playing, but now the amount of submissions goes up and down perfectly synchronised with my playing habits, meaning Alliance is pretty much dead since I only log on over there to run censuses and check the AH

Getting the above mentioned praise from the all time biggest census submissions maker warms my little heart.Balgair wrote:Yeah, usage of Census isn't improving any, think the only reason the EU servers are no longer a big mass of zeroes is that 1974ER is censusing tons - I pick them up a bit but also try to keep characters on any with low (<40) submissions and none of my servers tend to get out of that range so I just ran out of character slots...
However, I can not claim all the credit. There are, if I recall correctly, 295 active EU servers running in English, German, French and Spanish. That means that running just 1 census on each server on both sides requires a total minimum of 590 censuses per day. I am currently the biggest submission maker / month and I manage about 20 servers (mostly on one side) on a very good day.
This further translates to about 600 max / month... meaning that at my maximum ability I MIGHT be able to hold EU at about 0,9 censuses / possible side.
Which basically means... with my efforts alone, each day, a few servers will drop to 0. When I can, I try to fix that, but I am not always successful or able to (due to Blizzard's restrictions on PvP realm character creation and my own playing and censusing habits).
Just out of curiosity I decided to check something from the May 2009 drawings info. Rollie submitted a grand total of 14242 tickets... My personal share was 1068. That means during March - April, my modest efforts amounted to about 7,5 % of all updates the WCR received. So, yes, one person can make a difference... but he/she can not do it alone.

My WAR submissions don't even come close to your numbers, and I won't even tell you how many hours my second computer runs while I play on my other one.
I received 252 tickets for my WAR submissions so my percentage is at 2%.

Yeah, I try to impress upon folks learning about the site and the AddOn that one regular contributor really can make a difference. It doesn't take much to get decent coverage of a site.
Overall, while account numbers continue to grow in WoW, interest and research on the net shows that the trends are that searches for wow related terms (including wow census) have been steadily dropping over the past 2 years.
