Crashing in BGs
Omg... I'm not the only one?
Cannot pin it down at all here, there's no consistent trigger that I can identify; I've crashed as many times not mounted as mounted, so that doesn't help either Haven't actually had a crash in a few days but then running 2-3 games a day lowers the chances... if it has actually stopped then I've changed nothing to make it stop!
Well... I did turn the end of census sound off a week or so back, but rather think I've had crashes since then (plus it probably got turned back on in the last day or so after a lovely blue screen of death wiped my addon settings - that one wasn't Censusplus's fault though; my graphics card didn't like me changing my screenres )

I like to do AV for fun instead of other BG's.
I always play wow with -nosound
I never had the end sound on for CensusPlus, the option is actually turned off
I did check the modified CensusPlus.lua file Rollie had, and while I haven't had it crashing... I wouldn't doubt that its a totally random thing, and will eventually crash sometime in the future.
My memory usage was not out of the ordinary at all. Each time it crashed it was in the middle of a scan and I was in combat. And also every time I enter combat and its doing a scan I get an "Interface action failed because of an AddOn" message... Always doesn't matter if i'm doing BG's or farming primals. And when this happens my Raid tab is always blank when in combat and I therefore can't do things like move people to other groups. And the taint.log does show a whole bunch of errors related to CensusPlus. I can post if you want...
I'll keep my eye out and do more AV's and see if perhaps I can pinpoint something...

Hmm, interesting, you seem to be getting some stuff I'm not there! Never had the interface action failed message from Censusplus; I only get it on the very first combat I enter during a session, and I know it's from a different mod (UnitButtons, only affects one character, the characters I don't have that mod on don't get it at all).
Was going to say I have no taint issues from C+, but hunting through the log there are a few in among the huge heap from UnitButtons:

Also of note is my crashes have happened at any time, quite often not in combat. Ok, 2 further crashes for me in WSG tonight, strangely after a few days without trouble - it's annoying how intermittent it is, you think it's gone then it comes back Anyway, both crashes were during combat, was too busy in the fight to notice if a census was running/ending, but I have end of census sound turned off. Still using the same minimal batch of addons I've been using since these problems popped up, all of which were up to date at the start of 2.4, though granted I've not updated again since.
Btw if anyone else gets crashed out whilst dead and comes back to find they can't release to res, use the following command:
/script RepopMe();
Found that mentioned on the official forums a while back and it's come in very useful...

Had another couple of crashes after posting that, then none for the rest of the night, even though I spent most the night pvping... weird! Only crash I specifically remember after the 2 I already mentioned was one right when AV ended, just after Vanndar died, one of the earlier ones was right after I'd died as well, although the other was not directly at the time of anything dying... in any case most the time I can die or others die without crashes, so probably no connection there either.
Just cannot see a single pattern here... have you got any common elements with me on any of the following?
Nvidia Geforce 6800 Ultra (now on latest official drivers, was previously on older ones)
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 (old drivers)
Windows XP Pro SP2
AllPlayed
Atlas
AtlasLoot
CT_Core
CT_ExpenseHistory
CT_MapMod
Decursive
EquipCompare
GFW_Levelator
Grid
GridStatusHealingReduced
ItemRack
sct
SellFish
Problem is it's so intermittent I suspect it's going to be a nightmare to track down, I can't reproduce it on demand, just have to wait and see, and it can take a lot of games. Think I crashed 3-4 times in under an hour earlier, than played another 3-4 hours with zero crashes. Only thing definite is it only happens in battlegrounds, I've run Kara a few times, run loads of 5-mans, done 20+ arena games, no crashes. And it happens in all 4 BGs, AV seems a little more common but they definitely all do it.

I've also had this crashing problem. It's mostly happened in AV, and once in AB. For me though, it usually only happens once per play session. It's definitely only a BG issue, since like Balgair it's never happened in arena, kara, azeroth, outland, grulls, mags, 5 man instances, or TK. Not all my friends have censusplus and it's happened to them as well, so I've had trouble pinning it down to a specific mod.

I am having a BG crash issue as well. Tonight I disabled C+ and played 6 games of WSG without a crash. I was getting the crashes anywhere from once a game to once a night. I am going to keep C+ disabled for now and see if I get anymore crashes. If it crashes with C+ disabled, then I know its not that.

Since installing C+, WoW crashes in WSG frequently, which is the bg I play the most, usually its been right after I rez at the gy, but not always. I've also crashed in AB before. I don't recall the game ever crashing when I was standing still. I don't have a mount for any of my toons since they are all below lvl 40, but being on a mount might make the game crash more since your moving faster on it.
I've noticed my framerate gets really low sometimes when I'm running, but then when I stop for a few seconds, the framerate goes back to normal, framerate also gets low right after I rez. I only have 768 RAM, so that could be part of the problem, even though I have the graphics settings to the minimum possible on most things. C+ is the only mod I've ever had, and its taken up to 20mb before, but then I purged the data which put the memory taken down to a few mb. I guess I'll try lowering the graphics settings a lillte more and see if that helps. I also have some of the sound settings turned off, but I suppose I can turn all of them off and see if that helps.

When there is no chance of winning there is nothing to lose.
768MB RAM? Ouch, yes, that will definitely be a part of your problem then, I used to get problems with 1GB of RAM until I upgraded it Although never complete crashes, just mini freezes in crowds, it always woke up again eventually.
My crashes do tend to happen at the exact instant either I die or someone I have targetted dies... but not always, sometimes I can have nothing at all targetted, just be standing alone on def minding my own business and bam, crash.
Trying running without C+ currently, did 10+ BGs today (basically spent the whole evening at it), zero crashes... hmm.

Next time I get a crash, I'm posting on the WoW Tech Support forums.
It was crashing alot a couple days ago and I just disabled C+ and it stopped...
I know ram is not the thing. I got a 2gb ram, and my in game memory usage doesn't spike at all.... =/
Going from like 37mb up until like high 40's as usual.
But again, it is completely random...

If you do make a post, link it here so I can keep an eye on it, wish I could post on US tech support forums, best I could do is make a matching thread on the EU forums which won't be as much use as having all relevant infos in one thread
Running more BGs tonight with C+ still disabled... still no crashes. On the plus side I'm getting plenty of honor from this testing If it carries on like this then I'll try running some with C+ enabled and no other mods, to try and rule out clashes between mods... I can't do that on my main pvping character as I'm a healer (BG healing without mods... no thanks!), but my alt can use some honor anyway!

Yeah, I'm running 2 gigs of ram myself, so I know it's not that. Plus, I have my memory usage showing so I can keep track of it, and it's never spiked out of the normal 30-40ish MB range. I actually ran some more bgs the other night and haven't crashed again, so I can't exactly reproduce any errors yet...

Yep my memory use is usually 20-30MB (was higher before 2.4 but ever since these crashes started I've kept half my addons disabled, not that it helped any), no major spiking either, aside from that one time C+ decided to climb 3MB in one fight, maybe that was a freak occurence though. Running 3GB RAM here, should be more than enough.
Still no crashes btw, did another night of PVP tonight... 10k honor in 2 days, that's a lot for the very casual pvper I am Not a guarantee that it won't crash, seeing how intermittent it's been, but on the basis of averages I'd have expected to see at least one crash by now and I haven't.

I don't know if this is related to the game crashing in bgs, but sometimes during a scan in bgs I'll get a message saying a name was skipped because it was problematic.
About not having enough RAM, the weird thing is when I first bought the comp last year around March, I had the graphics settings all on maximum and everything ran smoothly (except when riding a gryphon, then I D/C). Over time the comp started to run slower, I would lower the graphics settings which helped performance, but then the framerate would decrease again, I kept gradually decreasing the graphics setting so everything would run smoothly but things just kept getting worse, this happened for about 3 months or so. Then the graphics settings more or less stayed the same for several months, but performance was gradually getting worse, until I started tinkering with some things in the NVIDIA control panel (among other things) to maximize performance and things were running fantastic after that. I had trouble with a trojandownloader a couple months ago and the comp has run slower since then, and today I set all the NVIDIA graphics settings to performance>picture quality, and so far things are running smoothly.
This begs the question, is RAM really the problem? Could it be spyware slowing the comp down all along? Maybe everyone else that crashes in bgs has spyware that ninjas their RAM. Has anyone tried decreasing their graphics settings and seeing if the game doesn't crash then? (Continued on next page)
