Logarithmic bugs and display issues

Post by Ergzay »

With the new way of displaying levels, while it IS nice. It makes it very hard to view. There are also a couple problems with it.

Feature requests:
1. Add a scale to the side so we can see properly what the maximum is as otherwise the logarithmic scale is somewhat useless.
2. Add an option to use logarithmic or linear scales. It is often much more useful to look at a linear scale when you are looking at a small selection of users. Like a single guild for example.

Bugs:
3. When a level column that has only 1 person in it is displayed it is displayed as a single line, no matter how low the maximum is of whatever you are looking at.
4. When you click on a level column that has only one person on it. The level bars in the bottom section of the screen disappears. This is the same whether you prune your results down to 1 person or you select a level directly that has only 1 person. This is a problem as you are then unable to deselect the 1 person level bar and you are now stuck on this until you do a UI reset.

Yeah, I'm still trying to decide what I think about the Logarithmic scale. I'll continue to fine tune it.

Few things on my mind.

. When there are for example only 1 seen result for certain selection, the bar is tiny and barely visible.
Now when user actually manages to click it, so activating detailed view for that result, the bar dissappeares completely
and there is no obvious way to get back to the "previous screen" of full view of all results.

unrelated:
. The addon window seems to be click-through.
NPC-s, objects, etc that are behind the addon window will also be selected/interacted with when user clicks something in the addon window.

. Why were levels 10-19 removed from website?
1-9 ofcourse are starting levels that does not count in lots of sence,
but since lvl 10 the main game starts with battlegrounds and talents etc.
Would still like to have option to see stats for the 10-19 tier.

To be honest, Rollie, I like the log scale. Only issue I've seen was either on the website or in-game that a result of 0 showed a bar higher than some number > 0 but < 10.

I'm mixed on log scale. While it's certainly nice to see something other than
_______________I
in the display box, I really feel like my brain doesn't process log scale well. It's really unclear to me, looking at that image, just HOW many characters are at that level.

On the other hand... whatever you end up doing, i'm sure will be fine.

regarding "there is no obvious way to get back to the "previous screen" of full view of all results. "
it's not obvious, but you click the thing again to 'unselect'. think of it more like a toggle. If you click the Warlock class icon, think of it as, "I'm toggling looking-at-warlocks On, now I'm toggling Warlocks off." but no, I totally didn't get that the first time either. I was trying to right-click to 'zoom out', i tried closing the window and opening it again... i think i discovered it by accident : p. anyway, hope that helps.
Censusing: Mostly Bronzebeard, Aggramar, Elune; sometimes Alleria, Icecrown, Scilla, Kel'Thuzad, Mal'Ganis, Draka, Staghelm, Nathrezim, Stonemaul.

I know about the toggle, but my point was :
when there is 1 result on the "detailed info" page,
there is no option to toggle anything to get back,
because the bar disappeares completely.
