it remains mostly broken due to the pulling of the underlying software from the site.
I have as best that I can during the time I have available to me, been working on updating the site code.
PHP has evolved considerable over the last dozen years, while we have not really need to make changes since the kept the old stuff alive.
I haven't been active in coding (other then the LUA stuff for the addon) in a long time, so it has been a difficult learning experience.
I have identified most (I think) of the types of coding changes that need to be made.
Issues include:
fixing the code access to the database information... and active issue across all the many php files that make up this site.(work in progress)
Fixing the processing of uploaded census files... this is I believe now working for both web uploads and Uniuploader uploads.
fixing the database stats, so people can see new data activity.. -Census db stats- now reports the correct info.
integrating the new phpBB software with the site..
for single sign on for both site and forums (this may or may not happen)
add navigation to allow getting back to site from within forum software.. or making for forum run in a sub-frame of a site page..
fixing the activity stats
fixing the census display data... it displays (but, I am not sure it is correct as more current census data needs to be added as we are aging out of the data we currently have.)
fixing the member data tracking-linking
fixing the character data tracking
as you can see there are still a lot of issues to be worked through.
Please do census runs and submit them to the site, your existing membership id and passwords still work and you will get credited.. even though it might take a while for me to get that to display.

Re: Status of this site 30-dec-2019
Glad to hear that there is still some hope.
I've been trying to pull data from the search box - just some simple stuff like a couple of my own characters, and neither of them bring up any data. Is this because the link I'm using is old and going to the wrong place, or because the data hasn't been reinstalled from previous backups (if it even could be?).
It is bringing up my character names .. so there is obviously some data there .. but just no history. Although each character has multiple entries - most at level 90, with one at level 120. All of them show a "first seen" and "last seen" date of Dec 31st, '69.
I also possible broke one bit when i pressed the "back" button on my browser and got the following error message: "Error => Unable to query : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near '-80, 40' at line 3"

Sorry .. couldn't work out how to edit, so just hit "reply" again :p I've also noticed that on the character screen it has an Armory link, however, at least for those of us in the EU, that link doesn't work. It sends us to the US Armory front page.

I am not even attempting to fix the off site links yet... as I am still struggling to figure out the impact of the changes for the underlying software.
I have made some headway.. after stepping back and letting my head clear after following many false trails.

Oh yeah .. that link thing wasn't meant as anything other than a "btw". I just thought potentially it might be one of those easy tweak jobs that we all sometimes do to have a break from the hard stuff :p
