Have you already selected your first 3 Classic characters

Post by bringoutyourdead »

Finally got around to it yesterday and had no issue with reusing my favorite three character names from live.. Out of the 50 names I have tied up on live. 8)

Yep! There's only two English PVE realms in Europe so I've taken Balgair on both; my guild has selected one to play on but I figured a backup wasn't a bad idea. And as I'll be Alliance as main (and I expect to fill that realm with Alliance alts), I've taken my live Horde main name on the other realm for when I want to see the other side.

Quite relieved to not have any problems, I actually ran into another Balgair on one of the stress tests which made me a bit nervous lol, luckily he was American but there are 37 others with that name in Europe according to the armory, and I've used it so long that it's an online identity I didn't want to lose.

Classic is just like old times..
just by name reservations alone Blizzard discovered in spite of the better hardware.. they need to add more servers in the NA region even before Classic goes live.

Hah yeah, although to be fair I think it was a deliberate choice to have too few servers initially and gauge demand from there, as even the most dedicated Classic fans admit there'll be a huge dropoff from launch, and what we don't want is a load of dead servers and merges 6 months down the line. Europe's had 4 new servers as well since it began, 2 English pvp and 1 each German pve and pvp (really, we could've told them that having 3 times as many English servers as German doesn't add up on the userbase  ).

I'm a little surprised by the heavy lean towards pvp servers, that's a big change, I'm sure throughout the lifetime of WoW, the live game has always been around 50-50 pve to pvp? Private servers have always been really heavy pvp, to the point that it was near impossible to find a pve server when I first looked, but I thought that was an anomaly. And yet, the new servers being added suggest it's still the case now, maybe it'll even out a bit when it goes live, possibly it's more casual people who'll go pve and the really keen types who make their characters 2 weeks early are more inclined towards pvp.
