Some WoW EU submissions spam inc atm as well - guild collapse at the same time as finger ache due to too much playing = time for a bit of a rest from playing and to spend my time on censusing a bit more! That and I've got my eye on 1 million new characters... ;)

The only bummer is none of my war submissions count to my overall numbers. All I get is drawing tickets. At least the WAR data will be pretty accurate in the next 30 days or so.

I can see about incorporating the WAR numbers in the overall numbers =)

Gratz on new comp and nice to see good numbers, I'm slacking myself for a couple of weeks at least. Bought a house and messing about on the comp is a rather low priority atm ;)

I have been submitting left and right, and the total numbers dropped by 30k.....LOL

Its a tough game to keep people....I think I see a goodbye post about every day from someone who I thought was pretty hardcore.

Well I cancelled my wow account a few days ago to play WAR. Also money is getting very tight and may have to even cancel WAR. But at least there are 3 F2P MMOs I have started to look at. Perfect World, Atlantica, and Runes of Magic. Of these stopped RoM since only 1 payment option and it is the most costly F2P cash shop. About :oops: 2x to 4x more that wow's highest monthly fee. The other 2 if you use cash shop are less than wow.

Also leaving wow till get a new PC next year. Northend is just not playable at 10-26 FPS

Numbers should drop since the influx of Choppa nad Slayer alts is over, it's also pretty much summer (at least down here). That said I think you'll see more retension among casual players than hardcore ones for WAR, the amusement park design lends itself to a more casual approach, it may be annoying at times but in the end to me it makes for a more fun game and there is always room to flesh out the high end as the core game gets more polished. I can't say I've seen many people leave lately but most of the players in my guild are former hardcore players that now have families which makes for a focused approach when playing but also a rather laid back attitude when it comes to the race to highest level/gear/renown etc.. If anything I see more people but they don't necessarily spend quite as much time online.

I am getting a little depressed from the WAR numbers. It really does seem like I am the only one submitting. I stopped for like a month, and the overall numbers dropped off almost completely. I did another two day marathon this last weekend, but the motivation isn't their any longer to take the time to run census on both factions on all the servers, and deal with individually submitting each char savedvariables file which takes about 3 hours now.

I have decided to just do the server I play on. It is going to be hard to see the inaccurate data from lack of submissions, but I can't do it all myself. I keep trying to defend this site numbers, but no one cares anymore. People seem to like the automated ones better now that parse data from the realm pages from the official website.

Warheap has some interesting numbers, especially the active char renown numbers which shows who is really active in rvr, but there are no char names, guilds, etc to go along with the data. Also he is being burned out, and almost gave up the site, but now has several people programming his code which I could find a little dangerous for hacking, keylogging, virus stuff being put into his code.

I basically stopped for three reasons, in rough order as follows:

- I couldn't find a good way to filter out census spam while still being able to read chat and chat history making me miss a lot of stuff while census was running (it seems even if it's filtered it counts toward the history limit, not sure....)

- I actually play 10 characters on the same server (and 10+2+2 on others) and going in under the separate characters to do submissions is a pain.

- I had issues with add-on stability and performance for a bit and now run minimal number of add-ons that are actually updated for current game version.

I do see why it's frustrating to be pretty much the only one submitting :/

I'm going to spend some time on the War addon and see if I can't find ways to make it more user friendly. I do understand your frustration =(

Even though I consider WAR the far more fun game I do understand that the 600lbs gorilla does warrant the most time spent on it. If you do get around to it it would be interesting since we can pretty easily gather enough population data now with the number of servers being much more manageable ;)

Is it even worth the time now? They are closing more servers, and I think it will be down to less than 10 servers left. With the Bioware/Mythic merger I think WAR will slowly die, and they will stop putting money into it. Also with Aion coming out (I am not sure why people like that game), and the new Star Wars by Bioware the game just isn't going to make it. Even though its the best pvp out there, they let their populations slip away from prolonging server mergers for months, and people are not going to come back.

I doubt Aion will hold people for long, the visuals are nice and from what I understand the combat mechanics are good but the whole concept of grinding PvE to max level and then grind some more for gear before you get access to PvP is not likely to make people stay... especially if they did WAR 1-31 before...

I do believe EA stopped putting money into WAR and they already wrote it off as an abject failure since it wasn't the magic WoW killer and now they moved on to Biowares game which of course will prove to be the same if pushed out the door before it's ready. The only thing that will kill WoW is WoW ;) The good news though is EA isn't likely to meddle much with WAR anymore which may allow needed changes to be made, the bad thing being that the engine overhaul will likely not happen :(

I'm having lots of fun playing WAR but I do agree putting time into tools etc. for it right now shouldn't be a high priority.

Last I saw WAR was sitting around 300k subs? That's still fairly profitable, even if it's not the cash cow they might have been hoping for.

Unfortunately EA has proven time and again that they do not have what it takes to succeed in the MMO genre. I really do hope they do not prematurely kill off WAR just because it's not a 1M sub game.

Oh, and honestly, I've been struggling just to keep my head above water with all my work related projects. My fun projects (WoW, Census, WAR, etc) have suffered pretty badly over the past few months due to it.

Well, Eyeball, assuming you're still playing WAR, you'll like this update.

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/mods/Warh ... us.0.6.zip

Basically creates a single global file instead of individual by character.

I worked some more on suppressing the /who spam, but it is not a trivial thing to do from my understanding of the WAR system =(

Yes I am still playing, twittering, and blogging about WAR. It has taken alot more time than I ever imagined writing a blog, twittering about WAR, and actually playing a game. I am glad I decided to visit the forums because I am off tomorrow, and planned on running some census to see where the numbers sit post patch 1.3.0b.

thanks Rollie I just ran a quick test of all the remaining servers, and it seems to be working like a champ. Uploading is a 10 second job again.

I found this added feature on the messages on curse.com which is pretty nice.

I used crimsoneditor to add it which is freeware lua editor.

Paste this code at line 992 of Census.lua and u can get players count by tiers:

local iTier = 0;
for i=1, g_MaxLevel, 1 do
iTier = iTier + g_LevelCount

if (i == 11 ) then
Census.Msg("TIER 1: ".. iTier);
d (iTier);
iTier=0;
end
if (i == 21 ) then
Census.Msg("TIER 2: ".. iTier);
iTier=0;
end
if (i == 31 ) then
Census.Msg("TIER 3: ".. iTier);
iTier=0;
end
if (i == 40 ) then
Census.Msg("TIER 4: ".. iTier);
Census.Msg("LVL 40: ".. g_LevelCount);
iTier=0;
end
end

This will output something like this to chat window:
[Census]: TIER 1: 103
[Census]: TIER 2: 95
[Census]: TIER 3: 118
[Census]: TIER 4: 78
[Census]: LVL 40: 45
